Alicante CF are on the up and that's good news for the city of Alicante.
The modest club have historically been overshadowed by city rivals Hércules but after many years in Tercera and a good few in Segunda B, they were finally promoted
to Segunda A at the end of the 2007-08 season - they'd closely missed out in the play-offs for the previous few seasons.

I'm not sure that Hércules fans will be so pleased, though - Alicante not only bear the name of the city but are also now competing in the same division and, what's more,
share the same stadium - the José Rico Pérez.
It's almost making a trip down to Alicante for the local derby - just to enjoy the fun!
