Only Leo Messi had scored more goals in the Copa del Rey and the young Serbo-Catalan was desperate to get one in Mestalla.

When he raised the cup, tears welled up in his eyes - the first trophy of a short but intense career in FC Barcelona's first team squad.

Bojan got his just reward in the Copa - after a season when he'd figured less prominently in La Liga than under Rijkaard in 2007-08.

Until the last three unimportant Liga games, Krkic had only been in Barça's starting line-up three times in Spain's top domestic competition.

Obviously, this took its toll on his goalscoring tally - compared with the previous season when he put away ten, he only scored two in La Liga.

The fans' expectations put him under a lot of pressure - he's only 18 years old!

But Pep and the club want to protect him from the media attention provoked by not only his goalscoring abilities but also by his teenage pin-up status. He's a good culé who turned down Luis Aragonés's call up for Spain's Euro 2008 champion squad in order to be able to concentrate on Barça.

He finally made his long-awaited international debut in September '08.

Bojan's already been through a lot. Expect him to bounce back - tougher and more experienced - for the 2009-10 season.
