FC Barcelona Shirts

More Than A Shirt

The story behind FC Barcelona shirts is an interesting one.

Some say the club plays in the same colours as founder Hans Gamper's original club - FC Zurich.

However, my favourite theory hints at the British origins of the club I support!

In the Barça early days, at the turn of the 20th century, two of the clubs founder members - the Witty brothers - were Old Boys of Merchant Taylor's school.

This may be just a coincidence but the school football team played in claret and blue at the end of the 19th century and it was when Arthur Witty became club president in 1903 that Barça adopted its present colours.

Whatever the origins, though, a Barça shirt is something to wear with pride. You're wearing a shirt that represents the Catalan nation and the fight against Franco - it's packed with history but now is an emblem of the most glamorous and exciting football played in the world!

FC Barcelona Home Strip

The FC Barcelona home shirt is the flamboyant blue and claret shirt of the most popular club in the world.

The Catalan club still have no commercial sponsor but emblazon their shirt with the UNICEF logo as an act of solidarity.

Messi, Henry, Etoó, Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol. The Barça list of stars is endless and with players like Piqué, Busquets and Bojan coming up through the ranks, now might be the time to get one up on your mates and order named FC Barcelona shirts with one of the stars of the future on it.

This shirt is big business, though, and changes slightly every year. I quite like the 2009-10 model as it harks back to 1970s designs with its thinner stripes and darker colours.

FC Barcelona Away Strip

For the 2009-10 season, FC Barcelona offer a completely new colour.

Although the rose pink is similar in shade to the delicious giant prawns you can eat in the bars close to Camp Nou, it's growing on me and looks quite refreshing in comparison to last season's garish bright yellow.

There are also all manner of shirts, shorts, socks and other accessories aside from Fc Barcelona shirts.

The black goalkeeper shirt as worn by Victor Valdés is also very nice and my good friend Sergio reckons that his chocolate brown tee-shirt is a winner with the girls!!!!

FC Barcelona Retro Shirts

The FC Barcelona Retro Shirts are absolutely gorgeous.

I particularly like the round-necked 1960s blue and claret design.

At the time of writing, there were no pictures for the 1950s and 1960s FC Barcelona shirts but the supplier assures me that they do have them in stock.

So I'll update the photos on this page as soon as I can.

The picture shows a 1970s yellow away shirt with the Barça colours in a diagonal band - very typical of the seventies but not the most popular of designs, I would imagine.
