Alicante Airport InformationAlicante-El Altet International Airport (ALC) is operated by the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority, AENA - Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea - and is the main airport for Alicante Province and serves the nearby Region of Murcia.It is located within the municipality of Elche, just 9 km southwest of Alicante and is the busiest airport in the Valencian community. In 2008, the airport handled 9,578,308 passengers, making it the sixth busiest airport by passenger numbers in Spain and one of the 50 busiest in Europe. The largest number of passengers is carried by EasyJet - 1,564,611 passengers in 2008, Ryanair - 1,415,284 and Air Berlin - 752,259. There are two terminals at the airport, located one adjacent to the other. A new terminal is under construction and is due to be finished in 2009.
Bus services run from Alicante Airport to Alicante, Benidorm and Murcia. There is an efficient if expensive taxi service and local and international
companies offer car rentals from the terminal building.
