Book your flight to Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) and all Spanish destination airports.

Are you thinking about hiring a car or do you need to find out how to get to Madrid Airport?

Madrid-Barajas Airport Information

Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) is operated by the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority, AENA - Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea - and is the main international airport serving Madrid and Central Spain.

The airport is located 12 kilometres north-east of Madrid in the adjacent town of Barajas.

It is Spain's largest and busiest airport, the world's 11th busiest airport and Europe's fourth. In 2008, more than 50 million passengers used Madrid-Barajas.

Madrid-Barajas serves as the gateway to the Iberian peninsula from the rest of Europe and the world, and is a particularly important link between Europe and Latin America. It is the primary hub and maintenance base for Iberia Airlines, which is responsible for more than 60 percent of the flights to Madrid-Barajas.

The Madrid-Barcelona air shuttle service, known as the "Puente Aéreo" in Spanish or "Pont Aeri" in Catalan - literally "Air Bridge" - is the world's busiest route, with around 1,000 flights per week.

Madrid-Barajas Airport has four terminals: T1, T2, T3 and T4.

Visit the AENA Flights To Madrid Website for up-to-date travel information or call the AENA Customer Assistance and Information Service on 902 404 704.

Bus services run between the airport and Madrid city centre as well as to destinations in Central Spain and long-haul journeys to major cities to the North and East, including Barcelona, La Coruña, Bilbao and Alicante.

Train services run to the city centre stations of Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios and Atocha - from where you can catch the high-speed AVE to Barcelona - and the airport is also linked to Madrid by Metro.

There is an efficient if expensive taxi service and local and international companies offer car rentals.
