Getafe CF 2009-10
Gladiators of the Coliseum Alfonso Perez
|
After a meteoric rise under Schuster and then Laudrup, Getafe CF just escaped relegation in 08-09 and will want to improve in 2009-10.
Getafe have maintained their tradition of signing high profile coaches and now have ex-Real Madrid player Michel at the helm.
The current squad has few star players but with Soldado up front and Casquero, Albin and Parejo in midfield is not lacking in quality.
El Geta will definitely miss Granero - who's signed for Real Madrid - but have strengthened the squad with other Real Madrid 'canteranos' in return.
Given that the club was only founded in 1983, Getafe's progress from Segunda Regional to the Primera Liga has been spectacular.
Staying in Primera for a sixth successive season and establishing themselves as Madrid's third club - after Real and Atlético - can only be considered
a success.

Watching Getafe CF
Named after an ex-player who played for Betis and Barcelona, the 18,000-capacity Coliseum Alfonso Pérez Stadium has seating for 14,000 and standing room for 4,000.
It's a real 'barrio' ground and watching games there is not only a cultural experience but also a sheer delight.
Given the size of the stadium, tickets for games against any of the Big Name clubs can be difficult to get - tickets for Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid or
FC Barcelona are like gold dust.
The Coliseum Alfonso Pérez is easy to get to by public transport - Los Espartales station is very close and is on the Madrid Metro network.
Your best foreign travel option is to fly to Madrid-Barajas Airport - Spain's largest and busiest airport - which is to the north of the city. Although
to the south of the city, Getafe is easy to get to by car as its on the Autopista M-45 Madrid ring-road.
Although it has a certain rough and ready charm, Getafe is part of the working-class urban sprawl to the south of Madrid, so you'll get much more out of your stay
if look for a hotel in the city centre.
