Racing de Santander

El Sardinero On The Beach

Twelfth position in 08-09 was a bit of a disappointment for Racing de Santander.

As one of the founder members of La Liga they've got a long history to live up to and having finished in UEFA positions in 07-08, fans expected more of them..

Their are few name players on the side and now Negredo has returned to Real Madrid it's hard to imagine who will give the Almeria attack its cutting edge in 2009-10.

Coach Juan Carlos Gandia will need to use everything he learnt with Hercules and Real Madrid B to keep Racing at the top.

This Racing side has few star players and Pedro Munitis - the biggest name on the squad - must be due for retirement relatively soon.

But Racing have a reputation as a tough team to beat so they are expected to stay the course and a European position at the end of the season would be a very big bonus.

Watching Racing de Santander

The 22,000-capacity El Sardinero is one of Spain's legendary grounds. The current.

For most games, getting seats on match day is fairly easy - the obvious exceptions are the games against FC Barcelona and Real Madrid but other clubs from Northern Spain - Athletic Club, Deportivo and Sporting - draw big crowds on a good day.

El Sardinero is located close to the beach at the end of Avenida de la Constitución and is well-served by public transport.

Santander is a gorgeous city set on the impressive Cantabrian coast and within striking distance of the Picos de Europa. A region blessed with excellent food and plenty of good places to stay.
