So many great players have donned Real Madrid shirts that they are steeped in history. Beginning with Alfredo di Stéfano and the amazing fifties side that won five consecutive European Cups, Real Madrid shirts have always been synonymous with success.

In recent years, this success has become associated with glamour and the star-studded Galácticos - Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane and, of course, David Beckham - were a testament to this.

And let's not forget the talent of Cristiano Ronaldo and Iker Casillas or the other great players in the current side - Benzema, Xabi Alonso, Ozil, Pepe, Higuaín . . .

Real Madrid Home Shirt 2011-12

The Real Madrid home shirt is still the solid white shirt of old with its beautiful club badge and black trimmings, and the modern collar is a very fashionable touch.

I also really like the position of the Adidas logo on the left of the chest but speaking personally, I prefer the shirt without the sponsor's name - bwin.com.

This shirt changes very little from year to year and shows the importance that Real Madrid attach to their traditions.

What normally changes is the colour of the trimmings - last season they were blue, this season they're gold - but this really makes little difference to the overall look.

Dressed all in white - white shirt, white shorts, white socks - Real Madrid look impressive and what's more the colour is also appropriate for casual wear.

Real Madrid Away Strip

For the 2011-12 season, Real Madrid shirts come in two kinds. Real Madrid has decided on a a simple black design for the Real Madrid Away Shirts. I much prefer the simple clear black of these away Real Madrid shirts. I think the Real Madrid players think the same because the side has played in blue very rarely this season.

There are also all manner of shirts, shorts and socks. One of the most attractive garments is the tracksuit with its bright white top and black pants - it's regulation gear for the cool dudes on the club scene all over Spain

Real Madrid Retro Shirts

The Real Madrid Retro Shirts are absolutely gorgeous. Most of the designs come in white but there's also a lovely red Betancourt shirt and the bluey purple 1960s away shirt is also really fashionable. If you're a real fan, you'll love the range of white shirts that tell the Real Madrid story from start to finish.

I particularly like how the club badge goes through subtle changes over the years.

I've chosen the 1932 design because I like the collar and the badge but many other styles are available.
